The planning for the Show had already started but, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the decision was taken in April to cancel the 2020 Dumfries Show. This was a difficult decision to make but necessary in the circumstances. All our contractors, entertainment and judges were contacted and very understanding.
We were able to have some car boot sales on the Show field from July to September following government guidelines. All other lets were cancelled as the guidelines at the time would not allow them.
The field was still maintained and thanks must go to those who did this for us.
The Society was saddened to hear of the deaths of our President Mr John Slaven in September. Mr Slaven was a lifelong supporter of the Show and had taken on many roles including chairman and treasurer. The number of people who attended the paying of respects at the Show field was a fitting tribute to John and his family.
We must now look forward to the next show and plan for it with the new normal.
Sponsorship package information will be available at the end of February.
