Despite wet weather a successful show was held at Park Farm on Saturday, 6th August 2011 with very encouraging support from both town and country dwellers. The Society celebrated the 50th show since the amalgamation of Dumfries and Lockerbie Societies with an exhibition of photographs and reports from past shows and displays of vintage machinery from the 1960s.
There were a large number of entries in all livestock sections and the Society was pleased to host the 25th Anniversary of the Scotch Mule Association. Trade stands including the Craft Tent and Food Festival were very well supported.
This year the Show is being held on Saturday 3rd August. We will be hosting the Scottish National Ryeland Show and there are classes for Shetland Sheep. The schedule for dairy cattle, beef cattle, horses, Clydesdales, sheep, fleeces, goats, unaffiliated show jumping and BSJA show jumping is available now. Click here to access it. Full details can be found in the competitors section. Entries close on Monday 1st July.
Entertainment will include Jez Avery, the return of The Sheep Show, Daffy Dill, a vintage machinery display, face painting, the band Disfunctional and Dumfries & Stewartry Foxhounds.
The home and garden arts schedule including the classes for walking sticks is available below.
Our prices for trade stands, the craft tent, food festival, adverts and sponsorship packages are now available. Please see the trade stands section for full details.
