Dumfries Show ‐ 6th August 2016

This year the Show is including the Galloway Cattle World Congress.  Thank you to Catherine MacGregor for the photo of the Galloway cow.


There will be a dog scurry, chain saw carver, a parade of Ferguson tractors through the years and Young Farmers Tug O’ War.  Thank you to Tom Telfer for the picture of the Ferguson tractor.

The Galloway Gundogs will be having a dog scurry.  Bring your dog along and see how quickly it can collect a dummy and bring it back to you.

*** Livestock entries have now closed***  Entries can still be accepted for show jumping, home and garden arts and walking sticks.

Entries cannot be accepted on line.  They must be on a official entry form and accompanied by the entry fee.  Cheques should be made payable to Dumfries & Lockerbie Agricultural Society. Full details of classes for cattle, horses, sheep and goats and entry fees can be found in the schedule which is available on the link.  Livestock Schedule 2016

Important Notice for Cattle Exhibitors

  • ALL CATTLE EXHIBITORS MUST complete a BVD form and return it to the Secretary prior to the Show.
  • ALL CATTLE EXHIBITORS FROM OUTSIDE SCOTLAND must complete at TB form and return it to the Secretary.

Both forms can be found in the entry forms link below.

The judge for the Prime Cattle and Commercial Cattle is Mr Steven Priestley, Cracrop, Brampton.

Show Jumping

The Show Jumping Schedule is available below. An entry form is only required for the British Show Jumping on Saturday 6th August 2016. Entries will be taken on the day for the unaffiliated show jumping (5th August 2016).

Please note that there is no Young Handlers Championship Final for the sheep at Langholm Show so the classes will not be qualifiers.

Trade Stands

Trade stands can be set up from the Thursday before the show and must be set up by 9.30am on Saturday.

The hours of trading are 9am to 5pm.

Charges for 2016

Trade Stands

  • Stand of up to 30 ft in depth: £7 per foot frontage
  • Stand of 31 to 40 ft in depth: £9 per foot frontage
  • Stand of 41 to 50 ft in depth: £12.00 per foot frontage
  • Stand of 51 to 60 ft in depth: £14 per foot frontage

The minimum charge for a stand up to 15’ x 30’ is £100.00

Food Festival

  • £60 per 8’x8′ space if the application is received on or before 30 June 2016.  £70 per 8’x8′ space if the application is received after this.

Farmers’ Market

  • £30 per space.

Craft Tent

  • £30 per space

  • Full page £150 + VAT
  • Half page £100 + VAT
  • Quarter page £50 + VAT
